Professional athletes from around the world are creating a legacy off the field by teaming up in the fight to end slavery.
Professional athletes from around the world are joining Team NFS, each of them making a personal pledge to help end slavery in our lifetime and create a world where every child is free to play. From Major League Baseball to International Cricket, athletes are using their platform, time, and support to make history.
Now, they are asking for you to join them in their mission. Team NFS needs fewer fans on the sidelines and more people actively playing a role. Whether a pro or an amateur, as an individual or as a group, everyone can rise against slavery in their own community and say that ‘we are not for sale’.

Not For Sale in the U.S.
For the past 4 years, Team NFS has steadily grown within the world of Major League Baseball. When Jeremy Affeldt became a pitcher with the San Francisco Giants in 2010, he reached out to Not For Sale to see how he could make a difference. Affeldt decided to pledge $250 for every strikeout he throws to NFS for every season he plays to fuel Not For Sale’s global initiatives. He asked his friend Matt Holliday of the St. Louis Cardinals to join him and Holliday pledged $500 for every home run he hits each season he plays. To date, Team NFS now has more than 30 Major League Baseball players pledging to end slavery in our lifetime.
Each player has also begun to engage their fans in various ways over the course of the season. Whether through community service, local fundraisers, and private events, they want to plug their fans into the action. Throughout the course of the season, be on the lookout for unique events and opportunities to connect with your favorite athletes in personal and profound ways as they want you to join them as part of the modern abolitionist movement.

Athletes in Action
“We’re trying to leave a legacy here that when we leave this game, we’re known for not only what we did on the field, but what we did outside the field.”
- Jeremy Affeldt, San Francisco Giants
“I’m donating a portion for every inning I’m pitching, so I figure as long as long as I stay in the game, the better it is for the kids.”
- Ian Kennedy, Arizona Diamondbacks
“I hope what we do causes a dent, a very big dent, to the point that maybe we could stop it.”
- Stephen Drew, Boston Red Sox
“You see it all the time in Mexico, and most of the time you don’t do something about it because you are too afraid, but this is a great way to help out.”
- Jaime Garcia, St. Louis Cardinals
“It’s definitely something I wanted to make sure I did; be able to give back to the community, be able to be a role model, and help where you can.”
- Josh Collmenter, Arizona Diamondbacks
