From Romania: Not For Sale Collaborates with Prosecutors to Secure Convictions for Nine Traffickers

Not For Sale is celebrating a huge victory after assisting with the conviction and sentencing of nine Romanian traffickers in Grenoble, France, this week.

Not For Sale Romania is proud to have helped secure the conviction, as the team spent a significant amount of time collaborating with prosecutors to compile strong evidence for the trial.

The team in Romania also provided medical services, shelter, and support for one of the female victims. The survivors were trafficked from Romania, Bulgaria, and Czech Republic.

For nearly 20 hours, the court heard evidence from the prosecution and defense teams in addition to testimonies from the brave survivors. During the trial the prosecution produced surveillance evidence, which was gathered over five months.

They estimated that the traffickers had made approximately €580,000 over that short period by forcing the girls to work as prostitutes.  The traffickers were also accused of violent offenses, possessing weapons, producing and possessing false documents, and human trafficking.

The network of nine traffickers received sentences varying from 18 months to eight years. Not For Sale will release more details on the case in the coming days. Linked below is another case that NFS Romania took part in late last year.
