This Holiday Season, Give Two Gifts in One!

With the holiday shopping season officially underway, Not For Sale has launched its new “Two Gifts in One” campaign.

Over the next five weeks, millions of shoppers will spend on average $700 on gifts for their loved ones during the festive season, according to various online surveys.

Not For Sale’s new seasonal campaign aims to highlight that by making these special purchases at the Not For Sale Store, not only will your gifts delight your family and friends, they will also directly help protect the freedom of survivors and communities vulnerable to human trafficking worldwide.

The new Not For Sale Store, which was launched last week, has a huge selection of gorgeous gifts from silk-lined handbags and designer AllSaints T-shirts, to handmade artisan scarves from India and wooden journals.

Not For Sale is encouraging shoppers to take action in the movement to re-abolish modern-day slavery by flexing their spending power in the Not For Sale Store rather than buying these gifts in larger retail outlets, many of whose supply chains are less transparent.

Speaking about the special 2011 holiday campaign, Jamee Hebert, Campaign Manager at Not For Sale, said: “What could be better than ‘Two gifts in One’: freedom for survivors and special gifts for loved ones. Our campaign embodies the true spirit of the holiday season.

“The Not For Sale Store offers more unique and special versions of many of the usual items that make popular gifts at this time of year. We are urging people to re-think where they spend their hard-earned money and increase the value of their gifts by buying items they might usually pick up elsewhere at the Not For Sale Store instead.

“The key difference of the Not For Sale Store is that all of our products generate enterprise and employment to prevent human trafficking and create new futures for survivors or people living in communities particularly vulnerable to trafficking.

“We are well aware lots of people are cutting back this year, which is why the store offers lots of easy and affordable gifts, and if you are unsure what to buy your family members and friends, the store also offers gift cards, all the proceeds from which are used to directly fight trafficking.”

With 30 million people living in bondage across the globe today, Not For Sale is also urging shoppers to download and use the Free2Work app before buying any gifts this year.

The award-winning app, which has attracted hugely positive reviews worldwide, enables shoppers to take action at the cash register by scanning barcodes. Once scanned, the app reveals a letter grade for the product or brand they’re about to buy, as well as a breakdown of grades on sub-categories like transparency, monitoring, and worker rights.

Not For Sale hopes the app will encourage people to avoid the worst offenders and drive business to the best.
