Attend Not For Sale’s ABOLITIONIST ACADEMY
San Francisco 2011
This summer, join Not For Sale staff in San Francisco for the acclaimed Abolitionist Academy, and learn from today’s leaders on the various ways YOU can fight modern slavery.
- At the Investigator Academy: Learn to map, document, and investigate cases of modern-day slavery… in your own backyard and across the globe.
- At the Aftercare Academy: Learn how to work with survivors using innovative models of treatment through trainings led by Nola Brantley, Executive Director of MISSSEY.
- At the Supply Chain Academy: Learn how you can help eradicate modern-day slavery by researching company supply-chains, document the good and bad of compliance, effectively freeing people around the globe by changing consumer’s purchasing habits.
- At the Faith-Based Activism Academy: Dialogue with participants from a variety of faith backgrounds about the cross roads of faith, justice, and abolition, and become equipped with tools to lead your communities in the abolitionist movement.
One trained Investigator moved to Africa, assisting law enforcement in the rescue of 47 girls from human trafficking.
What will you do with your training?

ABOUT THE BACKYARD ACADEMY
The Backyard Academy is a three-day event that addresses the first principles of the courses taught in our longer, one-week Academy in San Francisco (i.e., Investigation; Innovative Aftercare; Supply Chain, Healthcare, and Faith Communities in Action*). Academy participants choose three (from five) course tracks and attend one track each day.
This primer is designed to help you create practical, first steps to abolish human trafficking and modern-day slavery in your everyday lives and to lay the foundation for what you will experience at a deeper- and more technical-level at the San Francisco Academy. As such, it is highly recommended (although not required) that you participate in a three-day “Backyard Academy” before you register for the one-week Academy in San Francisco. At the conclusion of the three-day Academy, successful participants receive a “Certificate of Completion”.
*Exact course offerings are subject to number of registered attendees and are subject to change at any time.
