The NFS Academy | in Session This October!
Greetings Not For Sale Abolitionists:
Not For Sale (NFS) is excited to be offering a two-week Abolitionist Academy in San Francisco on October 18 – 29, 2010 and we invite you to be a part of it.
The first week is our Investigator (Level 1) Academy, an intensive training for individuals who want to learn how to identify, document, map and work with the anti-trafficking agencies in your city or country. Attendees gain in-depth knowledge about the many types of human trafficking in the United States and beyond. At the conclusion of the first week, qualified participants receive a certificate in mapping.
During week two, Nola Brantley of Oakland-based MISSSEY, will teach an intensive one-week Innovative Aftercare Academy, which offers participants training on the best practices of how to work with and for victims and survivors of domestic trafficking, with an in-depth look at Commercial Child Sexual Exploitation. Participants will learn how to conduct case management, direct advocacy, comprehensive data reporting, advocate for and attain systematic changes, as well as create tangible take home action-steps.
The cost of the two-week Abolitionist Academy is $549 and participants are responsible for securing their own housing and food. Upon request, the NFS Academy can provide a list of hotels/hostels in the San Francisco area. To receive an application for the October Academy, please email the NFS Academy at theacademy (at) notforsalecampaign dot org.
