Working on the streets of Lima, Peru, we know that it’s not enough to rescue individuals out of exploitation and bondage. We must also equip them to create a new future for themselves — one in which they have employment opportunities and are no longer vulnerable to the threat of traffickers.

At Not For Sale Peru, we are building a Vocational Center… and providing the first round of Vocational Training as we build!

Our Vocational Center incorporates two key elements: (1) An “on the job” training model that allows vulnerable people to learn a skill while earning a salary, and (2) training that works directly in the prevention or elimination of human trafficking.

This summer, we recruited our first team of trainees: young adults who were living in the streets of Lima with their families. Their wives and children were vulnerable and often victims of human trafficking and exploitation. With your help, we’ve employed engineers to teach construction skills to these students, and the class has become the team in charge of building the new Vocational Center!

The engineers teaching at the Vocational Center have been amazed by the work ethic of the students. As soon as they had training and an employment opportunity, the students rented rooms so their families would not be exploited, using their new opportunity to escape from the perilous life of Lima’s streets. As the Vocational Center building project moves toward completion, local construction companies have begun recruiting our trainees — who can now send their children to school and live in safe environments, free from the threat of traffickers.

The construction of the Vocational Center has become the foundation of NEW FUTURES for a dozen families.

But this is only the beginning!  We are now ready to move to the next level: The construction of Vocational Center Dormitories that will give more vulnerable people access to job training opportunities. We are ready to train individuals to work in bakeries, landscaping businesses, garment factories, video production, IT, music production, design, and more. We are ready to give vulnerable people access to the resources they need to become the new freedom fighters in today’s Abolitionist movement. Are you ready to join us?
