Frontline Reports: Uganda

May 28, 2009 Posted by Allison Trowbridge

ugandaDave Batstone here…I’m in Uganda at the moment. I connected yesterday with the national police child protection unit. Well over a thousand kids are being sold out of a cattle market in the east of the country…once a week a marketplace meets and sells cows and kids out of a cattle stall. We want to help them shut this place down!

$27 for the 27 million…do your part! You give $27 each month, and we give you back a story of an individual whose life has been saved from slavery! Can you think of a better investment? Please DONATE today.

Batstone gives Gordon Commencement

May 26, 2009 Posted by Allison Trowbridge

GordonThis past weekend, Not For Sale president David Batstone delivered the Commencement address at Gordon College in Massachusets.

Through his address, Batstone championed the calling of every student. In a time where many have said it is an unfortunate age in which to graduate, Batstone argued the very opposite. There could not be a better time to graduate in which the world could need such individuals more — people of intelligence, character, knowledge, and compassion.

The movement to end modern slavery begs for young people – students and graduates alike – willing to offer their greatest gifts and skills to meet the greatest needs of our world.

Shadow Hands PSA wins Clio Award

May 19, 2009 Posted by Allison Trowbridge

ClioThe Oscars of the advertising industry are called the Clio Awards. These prestigious annual awards honor the best-of-the-best ad campaigns.

Martin|Williams won a Bronze Clio in the animation category for the “Shadow Puppets” public service announcement it produced pro-bono for the Not For Sale Campaign. That’s so cool!

They were up against some outstanding work too: notably Coca Cola’s Happiness Factory (which you often see playing before movies at the theatre) Nike, and United Airlines. If you haven’t seen the award-winning PSA, click HERE!

This is amazing publicity for the issue of human trafficking. A tremendous thank you to Martin|Williams for the great innovation they’ve contributed to this movement!
