Top 10 Thoughts on the Global Forum — Law Enforcement Moderator John Vanek, San Jose Police Department
1- Find a vocation, not a career. Great advice. Especially if you are a new grad, or in career transition. (If you don’t know the difference, look it up and then see #5 )
5- If you want to find a vocation in the anti-trafficking movement, study and learn from as many sources as possible. There are so many ways to take part in the fight. There is so much to learn.
9- Slavery is filled with sad stories, but fighting slavery isn’t always sad. Finding new solutions is fun, and fun means laughing. We laughed a lot.
10- GF topics often seem to be high-level, strategic, partner-based discussions. Some times you wonder what the real results of this work will be. Then NFSC gives a $180,000 check to Kru Nam to open and operate a shelter in Thailand. Kru Nam cries, David Batstone cries. The money, the tears, were all real. Helping children have a safe home in Thiland, is very real.
