The JAM challenges followers of the Torah to Live Differently by faithfully engaging in the work of modern-day abolition. We must stand and walk with the 30 million enslaved. It is time to combat human trafficking in our backyards and around the globe.
The JAM includes four action steps for you to choose from to participate in:
- Relate Differently – Help curb the demand the drives sex trafficking in your backyard.
- Buy Differently – Participate in a campaign to end child trafficking in the chocolate industry.
- Work Differently – Work with your company to pledge to eradicate forced labor from its supply chain or work within the abolitionist movement.
- Play Differently – Athletes in your congregation raising awareness and funds.
Jewish Abolitionist Movement Commitments
- Engage your local faith community in the fight against slavery by incorporating the issues into synagogue life and worship of the Torah: pray and lead sermons against slavery, encourage study groups and teams to actively work on behalf of survivors and organizations on the front lines, and challenge ecclesiastic structures to adopt policies, practices, and theologies that reflect Judaism’s stance against slavery.
- Designate a point person to actively partner with Not for Sale. The point person can then email
Robert for information on what to do next: robert (at) hilleluw dot org - Participate in Freedom Shabbat, Passover 2012. Email robert (at) hilleluw dot org for details.
